The Bank Stress Tests - Is This An Engineered Rally?
The results of the government stress tests of the leading US banks were announced yesterday and there were few surprises in truth. However I’ve read a few comments from sceptical traders who believe that these stress tests have been engineered to provide false hope about the state of the banks.
I don’t believe this personally, but if there is any truth in it, it’s certainly worked because banking shares, and indeed the wider stock market generally, have rallied strongly in recent weeks.
So are the markets likely to continue their rally, or will they give back some of these gains?
